Alcatel One Touch 735i mobile phone

Alcatel One Touch 735i mobile phones is a dual band camera phone, and it is an easy to use handset that comes here in a stylish candy bar styled metallic case. This model is an upgraded version of the earlier 735 and, unlike that phone, the 735i now includes Java™ capability.
The other significant features of this mobile phone are its integrated GPRS and WAP technology, MMS multimedia messaging, digital voice memo recorder, speaker phone for hands-free conversations, voice commands and dialling (10 functions are accessible by voice control), and a choice of polyphonic ringtones.
The 735i mobile uses a cSTN type of LCD that is capable of providing a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels, and this screen can also reproduce up to 4,096 different colours. The mobile screen provides the means to make your menu selections from the graphical display, and it also acts as a viewfinder to check your pictures, as well as being the screen on which you can play games on the phone.
This phone comes with a CIF quality integrated camera, which is capable of taking pictures at the 6 different image sizes of CIF (352 x 288 pixels), panoramic (352 x 128 pixels) optimised to be sent to a PC, L (128 x 128 pixels) for MMS messages, M (64 x 64 pixels), S (32 x 32 pixels), and XS (16 x 16 pixels). Three different image qualities are also available, with the best quality naturally using up the most memory, and an 8x digital zoom can also be used to magnify pictures (although it is not possible to use zoom on the CIF and Panoramic picture sizes).
Another amazing feature of the camera is its animation facility, which allows you to take a rapid sequence of 4 shots that can then be played back in quick succession as an animation, or alternatively these 4 shots can be laid out in a square of thumbnails on the screen - you simply select the “mosaic” mode. There is also the opportunity to do some editing on your pictures, using the colour modes (normal, black and white, sepia, negative, outlined), and the pictures can then be placed in a frame chosen from the selection that is supplied. A mirror and timer are provided to make it easier when you want to take some self-portraits.
Being MMS enabled, this phone may be used to send and receive MMS messages, and you can create multimedia messages containing a combination of pictures, sounds, animations and text. You also have the chance to record a background sound to go with a picture that you take with the phone’s camera, and then send these together in an MMS message; this enables you to add some special sound or voice message when sending the picture to your friends.
You can personalise the 735i by changing the various photos, pictures, animations, melodies and sounds that come embedded in this phone. Alcatel provide sets of what they call “atmospheres”, which allow you to change 7 customisable items in one go - this includes 4 visual items (e.g. images, animations, colours and skins for “on” or “off” and main screens) and 3 sound items (e.g. melodies used at switch on, for incoming calls and notification of incoming messages). If you need more content, then this may be downloaded, for example polyphonic ringtones, photos, screensavers and wallpapers may all be downloaded. If you feel more adventurous, then the phone has an internal music composer that can be used to create and save your own polyphonic ringtone melodies, and there is a choice of using 24 levels and 60 instruments and drum kits. Alternatively, it is even possible to use a sound recorded with the phone’s voice memo recorder as a ringtone.
It has already been noticed and mentioned that the 735i is Java™ also enabled, and this feature allows you to make use of the wide range of Java applications and games that is currently available. Although the phone comes preloaded with 2 Gameloft™ games, and several applications, you can download Java programs for use on this phone when you need to use something different. To make it easier to play games a games action key is situated just above the display, and it is recommended that the phone be switched to the landscape orientation so that you can use both hands while playing games, as you would on a regular games deck.
Another important feature of the 735i is its integrated GPRS technology, which gives you an “always on” connection and faster data rates when transferring information from the network. The added advantage of GPRS is that you only pay for the amount of data that you use, and not the length of time you are connected to the network. The phone’s WAP 2.0 browser also enables you to gain access to the mobile Internet, and to search for the many services and information sources now available via the WAP sites. You can, for example, make use of the excellent selection of news, sports, entertainment, stock market information, online banking, weather, traffic, and many more useful services.
A choice of connectivity here options is available in the 735i. Being equipped with an infrared port means that you can make a wireless connection to compatible IrDA devices, such as other mobile phones, PCs or PDAs, and then transfer any pictures, sounds or data that you need to exchange with that other device. There is also the usual wired interface option available to you via a USB data cable connection. When you have linked up to your chosen device, you are then able to carry out the synchronisation of your phonebook or calendar details, for example to keep you up to date with your home or office PC. The phone also supports synchronisation with the software applications Lotus Notes™, Lotus Organizer™, Microsoft Outlook™ and Microsoft Outlook Express™.
The 735i provides also several useful organiser or PIM (Personal Information Manager) functions for the user, including a diary (including to do lists), alarms, currency converter, calculator, and world clock. This phone also supports Vcard and Vcalendar exchange, and an 800 contact phonebook is included for those who have a large circle of friends or business associates. You can also assign pictures to your contacts that will then appear on the screen when they call you.
